Other people, like in this strip, use blogs to blog about blog conventions and workshops. That is pretty stupid. Not that workshops might not help...but seriously?
A blog is a little window into your businesses life. And if you don't give your readers a reason to read it, they won't. Why should they (or you, in this case)? Everyone has a million other to do and read, so really, why should they read your blog? They shouldn't and won't unless you offer them something of value.
There is no single perfect way to have a great blog. No 'one size fits all' solution to have a popular blog and no single way to be great. But whatever you do, if you want a successful blog:
1. Be honest. Earn your readers trust and never break that trust.
2. Offer them something of value. Let them take something away from it...knowledge, advice, a good joke, great deal, or anything which will actually improve their lives.
So go, blog! Improve your business! And in case you don't actually have too great of a website or haven't bothered to set up a blog yet, I would recommend you do so.
