Branding is how you portray yourself. It often shows up in logos, websites, and then public appearances and interactions. Let's look at the candidate's branding and then see how they stack up on the web.
Hillary's logo takes a very different approach. The colors are brighter and lighter, which are more bold and modern colors. Her lettering takes this approach as well, one letter that's very simple and modern. Finally, the arrow thrown in shows that she is trying to take a forward-thinking, progressive approach to this race. She is clearly going for a modern, minimalistic, and progressive approach to her logo.
If done right, a website should continue to portray the same image, so how do the websites stack up?
Trump began the race as the anti-establishment outsider who was a winner in life and a champion of the American dream. He offended many with his quick speaking and lack of filter, but he also gained followers who saw him as honest and authentic and fighting for the common people supporting the American Dream. Since becoming the GOP candidate, it seems he's also tried to show a more respectable side as well, becoming calmer and trying to be more authoritative.
Hillary began as the Democratic establishment pick, portraying herself as a picture of composure and authority for her party. However, as the popularity of Bernie Sanders seriously threatened her role as the Democratic candidate, she began to show a more progressive side. Her current image is somewhere between the composed establishment candidate she began as and the edgy candidate who fights for the middle class. And both candidates have shown they're not afraid to take each other on regarding the issues or just each other as people...probably more so than in any other race in recent history.
We can see that however you choose to market yourself, your image is important and your marketing can make or break what you do. It will be interesting to see how this race plays out from the marketing perspective, and we can only hope it's what's also in America's best interest.
